Prairie Potholes Series
About the Work
I started this series originally in 2004 after spending many days visiting my favorite wetland, Bjorkboda Marsh, and it's accompanying century farm here central Iowa. In this series I wanted to convey the natural marks made upon the land versus that which was created by nature through extreme weather and those left by man over many millennia.
In the twelve years that I have been visiting the marsh the accompanying century farm has gone from a house, barns, and silo's to grasslands and an ever expanding natural marshland teaming with birds and wildlife.
Natural, Rust, and Compost Dyed Silk and Cotton Fabrics. Timtex Core. Machine Stitch.
All pieces are matted and framed, black frame, to a finished size of 11" x 14" x 2" with hanging hardware.
